A Culture is combination of language, tradition and heritage. The culture of Bangladesh refers to the way of life of the peoples of Bangladesh. the land, the rivers, the lives of the Bengali people formed a rich heritage with marked differences from neighboring regions. The native language of Bangladesh is Bangla. Dhaka is the Capital city of Bangladesh.Bangladesh is ethnically homogeneous, with Bengali's comprising 98 % of the population. Majority of the people are Muslims(90%),there are also Hindu's, Christan's and Buddha's living in this country.The traditional dress of Bangladesh is kurta or fatua for men and shalwar Kameez and sharee for women. Festivals that are celebrated is Phohela Boishakh,Independence Day,National Mourning Day,Eid-Ul-Fitr,Eid-Ul-Adha,Durga Puja and language movement day.

A culture defines who we are as a nation. A culture creates and binds a nation. Post-colonial countries were very relevant to comprehending the development of the cultural policies of Bangladesh. India got independence from British on the 14th of August,1947 . After that India got divided and Pakistan was created. There was two parts of Pakistan west Pakistan and east Pakistan, which became later on peoples republic of Bangladesh. Although Bangladesh is a very young country on the world map it shares the heritages with Indian civilization. Bangladesh during the colonial rule of British empire was known as east Pakistan were inhabited by a large majority of Muslims. Traditional culture and heritage of Bengal which was by and large secular in nature was subjected to continuous harassment.Urdu was declared as the national language while Bengali mother tongue of the people of east Pakistan who compromised was the majority in the population was discarded as a language of Hindus. People of Bangladesh suffered a lot because of the flux and could not decide for themselves whether they Muslim first or a Bengali. But over the time east Pakistan realized that they were being discriminated but the other people ruling their country and they felt that they were destroying their culture and and language. As a result people of east Pakistan laid their life on February 21st, 1952 to uphold their mother tongue. 21st February has been accepted and is being observed as International Mother Language Day throughout the world every year. Bangladesh has a distinct identity not only political but of a cultural heritage of its own.
